Spectrum's First Annual Masquerade Gala

On February 25, 2012, Spectrum Foundation hosted its first annual gala dinner held at the Williamsburg Winery. Nearly 150 local area residents, sponsors, and Spectrum employees gathered to celebrate our Wounded Warriors and their great sacrifices. The evening was filled with a dazzling display of food and friends dressed for the occasion in masks of all sizes and colors. Our speakers were Andrew Smith of Operation First Response and Kristy Spurgeon who spoke on behalf of Operation Homefront. Together we raised over $5,000 that will be donated toward supporting our wounded veterans throughout the community.

The stories of both of these individuals allowed us to see behind the uniform and look past the injuries to the emotions, trials, and triumphs found in their dedication of service to this great country. As Kristy and Andrew shared with us, the difference each of us makes can be as small as baking a plate of cookies or driving a veteran to their doctor’s appointments. Yet, to these brave men and women it might mean the difference between making it one day to the next.
